high oil, frequent regen
Dropped off my 08 for service because I noticed the oil level has been rising like i've read about onhere so many times. Also on my last camping trip pulling the trailer the truck went into regen 4 times in 150 miles. You can only imagine the mileage I was getting. Service called today and said something about an injector that injects fuel into the DPF was leaking. What am I missing. First I didnt think thats how these trucks were set up. He made it sound like something was literally injecting fuel into the filter. Secondly, if they are set up that way what the crap does that have to do with my oil level rising. He said its all connected. I know I should just delete it, but I only have 19,000 miles or 3 years left on the warranty.

The truck does not inject fuel into the filter. It injects fuel on the exhaust stroke and that's where the extra oil comes from. If you are going into regen that often, there is something wrong with the pressure sensor or the DPF itself.

my truck has only regened a few times and I have 25,000 on it. I pull a trailer with 4 quads on it about 5 times a year deer hunting. I would agree with the last post that there may be something wrong and every time you regen, fuel will get into the oil. Most people are gaining about 2 quarts of fuel into their oil every 5k if they regen a coupple times during that period. Most people change the fuel filters every 10 but I reccomend every 5k when you change your oil. I know that seems overboard but the fuel system is very tempermental and very expensive to fix. I would at least check the rail fuel filter to make sure it looks new. With that many regens, I would also change my oil more often.

got it back from the shop and they said the #3 fuel injector was leaking. They replaced it and said the dpf system was tested and checked out ok.
