Steering Gearbox, 2nd one!

Truck has been hard to turn the last few days so i stopped by the dealer this morning to talk to my boy about having them look at. I explained what was happening so he jumped in and turned the wheel a few times and said if feels like i need a new steering gearbox, I replaced this thing about 1.5 years 40k miles ago. Have any of you guys had this problem? these things cost about 1200 bucks parts and labor and im not looking foward to buying another one.

Just trying to get some feedback if anyone else has had this problem? Is there an aftermarket gearbox that is stronger and made for lifted trucks with bigger tires, b/c he said thats what the problem is.

Only ever changed a couple steering boxes on P356 (08-10) trucks. One was for a shaking wheel during steering return, and the other was leaking from the case.

I think AGM makes an aftermarket box, but I am not 100% sure the application.
