Water in fuel

OK i had my first water in fuel light at 45000 miles. I tried to drain it and nothing come out the first time the secound time it drained but kelp comeing on about every 1/4 tank i call the ford place he said to remove the 4 bolts on my fuel filter seperator and it was full of geil. i cleaned it and the light didnt come on for another 265 miles or till the tank got low. So should i try to treat the full and change my filters or get a new sensor. I drained it and didnt find any water that i could tell the last time but found some the first few times. thanks for any help and if you know the name of the sensor please let me know cant find it......
