Loss of power, fail safe mode

Started the drive home for thanksgiving, and got a little love from ford on the way. After passing someone and then letting off the gas, I pressed on the gas to start accelerating again, and the truck started chugging and wouldn't accelerate. Looking at the gauges, everything was fine except for no boost from the turbos at all. After pulling over and coasting for a minute or two, I turned it off and on, where I then got the engine light, and the truck worked again, but in what I assume is fail safe mode. It could drive fine, just limited the revs and didn't accelerate fast. The turbos worked again, no strange issues or noises, nothing hot or leaking under the hood or the truck. Ideas before i take it in tomorrow? Thanks in advance.

Also this happened a few minutes after a "cleaning exhaust filter" message. Maybe a regen issue?

Thanks Ryan, I was a little worried about those kind of issues when I took off yesterday on my 850 mile trip back home (these things aren't exactly something you can fix on the side of the road with a cresent wrench, channel locks, and a flashlight...but I still keep them in my toolbox!!. Everything went well...How many miles do you have on your truck?

I just had the same problem but I had to have my truck towed .. .I realize this is an older post but wondering what everyone had found out ... Although one thing is different from mine .... My truck after i shut it down and went to restart it .. the truck rattles and clangs very loud .. shut the truck off right away and had it towed ... cant tell if it was coming from the turbos or what but it was obnoxiously loud ... has 214,000 miles on it and just got it out of the shop for 2 broken head studs ;-(
