Hey guys, I have a 2008 Ford f350 6.4, 96k. I have owned since 84k. I have deleted
egr and dpf, also tuned for reliability. Since owning I have replaced radiator with Mishimoto aluminum due to leak. In September 2016, there was a chirp or squeak - took to a mechanic with all the parts - 2 belts, tensioners and idler pulleys for both a/c and accessory - worked great for 3 months. Chirp is back. Took to different shop, diagnosis now is idler pulley (probably), water pump has play in it (don't know if it is causing chirp) and sludge in intake manifold. Here is the issue - I don't really trust this shop (just took in for chirp). They also found sludge in the intake manifold (intake elbow?). This sludge has probably been there before the egr delete but I guess I don't know. (they said they would need to take turbos, etc.. out and cleaned intake manifold. They quoted me over 2k to clean intake and intake manifold. With pulley and water pump this repair is over 3k (taking out intake elbow and cleaning entire manifold). I cant afford this so I told him to put it together.. I am at a loss. Is it okay to leave intake the way it is and fix the idler (chirp). I don't have a water pump leak yet. I have already put over 5k into this pickup and cannot afford anymore, should I trade it for a gas motor? Thanks to anyone if can offer any guidance!
