Over optomistic fuel mileage

Computer is always 1/2 mile per gallon or more off from mileage figured the old fashioned way. Is there any way to adjust it to be more realistic?

mine was within 2/10 sometimes high, sometimes low. Spartan came along, now it is at least 2 mpg off. that being said, hand calculating it, it averages about 3 mpg better.

dont forget when your running bigger tires, your speedo will be off as your mileage will too.

yeah I did hand calculations and it seems insane but before I left on deployment we rode 800 miles and filled up twice, and it came out to 18.something mpg...I got pretty excited, hopefully my new tuner, exhaust and intake will help with mileage....ordered all 3 new, I wanted new exhaust, the intake was sh......and the tuner was not there.

I guess I have to ask do you reset it after each tank full, this could be the cause of the .5 error.
