2008 F350

I am new to the Power Stroke forum and I was wanting some advice. I am looking at trading in my 04 for a 2008 with the 6.4. I am hearing mixed commits on these motors, some say they are good, others say they have had trouble with every thing to do with the motors. I just don’t want to get burned. Any suggestions

Is your 04 a 6.0 because people talk bad about those too.

If the 6.0 or the 6.4 was as bad as people keep saying would there be any on the road?

There have been a few bad ones but I think the majority of them have been good trucks. Just because 1 in 10,000 motors blew (thats a guess) doesnt mean the other 9,999 will blow.

DPF is short for diesel particulate filter. Ford also calls this the exhaust filter. It is a filter in the exhaust that traps soot, and then burns it off at a later time. Therefore, 6.4s don't really smoke at all.

I am not sure about 1 in 10,000 since my 03 6.0 has 92,000 miles on it and I just got it back from the shop after installing the third motor. Its not like I am abusing it, just using it as a truck. Working with the dealer now to try and make the truck go away

This is a great resource for info on our 6.4's, with that being said you're gonna see a lot of posts requesting info on probs with them. So don't let your browsing discourage you. For those 3 trucks with a prob there may be a 1000 without one. Ford sells 10,000's of these motors, you get my drift.

You don't HAVE to drive until it goes off.
