^^^^ I second that. Both times my tensioner has gone out it made that exact same noise. It doesn't sound motor related, you wouldn't hear it that crisp if it was under the valve covers or heads. And you would have more resonance through the block.
Definitely sounds accessory related on the front of the motor.
I hear this on my truck too. Just got done with a rebuild and it is there at idle and low rpm's. I figure it was from letting my pulleys sit around for 3 months.
Thanks for the info guys. Would you recommend replacing the belt tensioner first? Or is there other trouble shooting I can do first?
