6.4 tuning exhaust and intake

Hey everyone I have a 2008 f350 and I'm looking to tune my truck I'm not completely unknowlageable i have read a lot about diesels on the forums but this is the first one I'm going to have done anything too the installation isn't a problem but I want to know what I will actually need a lot of people seem to say different things this is my daily driver so I need it to be reliable I was going to go with a 5 inch turbo back exhaust stainless from flo pro and get an s&b intake and buy my buddies h&s mini max race tuner it's an older version that they no longer sell anymore from what I understand and at some point later on I want to do an egr delete but to start just intake tuner and exhaust will it be as simple as putting the parts on pluging the tuner into the diagnostics port or am I missing something?

No experience with the mini maxx but as long as it is unlocked from your buddy's truck that should be all it is. I would install the tuner first before installing any hard parts to make sure it's goin to load up right. You can also go ahead and turn off the egr with the tuner.

Pretty much like stated above, make sure original owner returned the tuner back to its original state. When ready update sd card, got to truck hook it up like you mentioned & power unit. From there install firmware first & then install download. It's important they say to load up tuner w/o emission removal to make sure all is well, drive & fell the difference until you ready to wrench exhaust. Then once you delete you retune & select emission question & load that tune (you don't have to retune once Egr is done if you do those jobs separately). I myself did it in stages w/Egr last, I'm new also but it's pretty straight foreword. Good luck, Jayson.

Yep, just answer emission question correctly but don't say no if dpf is present. It actually cycles Egr valve on easy tune but I believe turns it off on mild & beyond. Jayson
