hopefully this will give me my answer... sct vs spartan

Alright im new to the powerstrokes ive only owned duramax until last fall. With that being said I bought a 6.4 f250 and im not happy with tbe power the fuel economy or the amount of time its spent in the shop. Ive had bad luck with it going into regin mode an staying for 50+ miles, well a tech told me off the record to delete and just do away with the epa crap. So here I am trying to figure out what tuner to get. Ive decided to go with the sct or the spartan. Im looking for real world advice. I want to love this truck but im having a real hard time doing so. So please let me know which tuner is the best for all around.

SCT w/ custom tunes, H&S, or Spartan are all three great tuners. No one can really say one is better than the other because what fits my driving needs may not fit yours. The fastest tune on all three would be about the same. SCT canned tunes don't compare to Spartan or H&S

i went with H&S because i liked the shift on the fly option. As stated all of those you mentioned are good tuners. just be sure its an "offroad" tuner. So you can remove that stupid EPA crap. the 6.4 is a whole different beast tuned and deleted.
mileage wise, though i was getting 16 to 18 when i was stock. CCSB 4x4 with 3.73 gears on the hwy. Not bad to me for a 9k lb truck. I didnt regen that much either, but i didnt idle all that much. dont know if that made a difference or not.

Im leaning towards spartan as of now. I sure hope fuel mileage improves im getting bout 11.3 mpg and all I do I run up and down I-35. Another question I forgot to ask, im doing away with the egr. Do yall recommend that I do the egr egr cooler delete or just leave it and turn it off in the tuner?

I would delete, just turning them off doesn't keep the coolant from flowing thru them and they could still plug.

Most complaints are about harsh shifting on the high HP tunes without traction bars.

The earlier tunes may have been a little hard but all of the big 3 have had hard shifting. I don't think they shift any harder than the other two companies.

Wish there was a a video comparing all major tuners on different motors and listing the good and bad. Im sure they all have there weak points but to me the life of my trans and motor and mpg. The power im looking for will come by just removing the dpf and egr im sure.

In terms of budget an offroad SCT with custom tunes will be the cheapest route. I've got $820 in my SCT with street tune from Matt @ gearhead. I don't think you can buy a spartan or h&s for close to that.
