if your going to buy a tuner which will void your warranty you might as well delete the dpf. Spartan Diesel Tech and SCT has Dpf safe tunes. a cold air intake is a good mod. what are you wanting a tune for? towing? racing? fun?

2nd that... welcome. There aren't many, if any, gains to be made with the DPF in place. I've heard of three guys from my area that had their warranties voided because their choice of tuner + keeping the DPF in place caused big problems. Ford won't warranty anything if they don't have to, and when you give them a reason like pulling a dpf and finding a pile of soot with a computer trail you're asking for it.
I've been really pleased with the performance and mileage gains I've gotten from my Spartan setup. Some other guys have had good luck with their SCT setups as well. Bottom line, the DPF has to go to see any kind of increase. It takes about 30 minutes to pull it off (or put it back) if need be. Good luck! |

Advice: Stay away from the SCT. I would offer you a good price on mine but my conscience will not allow me to do so. |

This seems like a good place to post this... I have seached this forum for a few weeks now, and bought my SD 250 last night. I like it, it is a nice upgrade from my F150.
So, I plan to upgrade to the Spartan tune, and DPF delete. The DPF I can toss back in if needed, no problem. The tune is what worries me sort of... Is it possible for Ford to see that we had a tune in the truck if it is removed before we take it in. I run a transmission shop, so I have access to a scan tool etc... Thoughts. Mike |

If you are going to do a tuner, you might as well delete the DPF as previously mentioned. If you dont want to delete the DPF, go with a harness style box like the Edge Juice with Attitude monitor as they do not reprogram the ECM and are not detected by the dealer. They are also very easy to remove. here is more info on them.

To the O/P, as others have said, there is not much to be gained (mileage or performance but mileage in particular) with the DPF left in place. Those things are in the neighborhood of $2500 if you have to replace one so delete it but hang onto it just in case it needs to be reinstalled. Stay Tuned Amp Stay Tuned Amp |
