who sells F450 gears?
1st post to a great site!
Just purchased a 08 f450, CC DRW 4x4. Love the truck so far. I use it for my roofing business and we tow 8-10k lbs about half the time we drive it. We travel often as much as 200-250miles to the job site, so a lot of highway driving. Ive just installed a 5" DPF back magnaflow exhaust and a Hypertech programmer. And, I've got a Banks intake on order. Future mods may include a DPF/Cat delete and tune (ditch the hypertech). I wonder how much MPG I would gain with that on a drw 4x4? Is there a supplier for the f450 rearend gears? I have a friend who works for a local truck shop doing nothing but changing rear end gears all day, so I have the labor. Im thinking of switching up the 4.88's for 4.10's. Opinions/ideas appreciated. Chris |

I also have the same truck as you and looking into putting in 4:10 gears. What I have found out is you don't get the TONE RING with 4:10 gears, this is used for the speed pickup. you would have to take the sender out of the rear end and mount it to the back of transfer case with A 30 tooth spocket on output flange to drive speedo input, I'm working on this part. UNITREX in fullerton ca. has the front and rear gears for about $1000.

Try Randys Ring and Pinion . I have never gotten 450 gears but we use them for almost all of our stuff. They are great people to work with .

Most shops that deal with pickups don't have parts for the dana S110L rear end, you have to go to someone who deals with medium size trucks.

Thanks for your help. I really think getting the RPM down will make a big difference. Im getting 8.5 mpg pulling my trailer at 75, but if I drive 63 I can get 9.7-10.
I just received my DPF delete pipe and tuner. I won't be able to get them in for a week or so. That will help. Quote:

Get a gear vendors overdrive unit and then you will still be able to tow heavy when you need to by switching the overdrive off.
