flames out the exhaust? Is this possible or was i seeing things?

I took my 38ft g/n trailer to cali from oklahoma this past week and on my way back i was hauling empty and going through the mountains (big hills) on my way home. I had the truck on the extreme tune and was hauling butt up a hill and could have sworn i saw two flames come out the exhaust. I have my exhaust run infront of the rear duals 4'' turbo back no dpf/cat. My egts were hittin 1600 easy and could have been alot higher at times. is it possible for some flames to make it out that far. My eyes could have been playing tricks on my since i had been awake for 26 hours. Some one chime in and let me know if im going crazy. Oh and for all of you guys that haul heavy loads. I hit 1600 degrees for almost 3min going up the cahone pass and nothing melted.

How dirty does the side of your truck get with your exhaust coming out in front of the rear duals???? I had a gas burner i did that on and my wheel was always dirty !!! I cant imagine how bad it is on a diesel!!!

1600* for 3 minutes. Holy ba-jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't feel good riding over 900*. Never even hit 1200*
