mini maxx power cable

I just bought an 09 6.4 and I am getting ready to install a race mini maxx. The Mini Maxx has been used and the previous owner had heat shrink tubing and a crimped connection left on the power cable and you can see where he just cut his purple wire on the truck side of the connection. his truck was an 08 6.4. Seems how there is no way to separate the crimped part I went ahead and cut the wire right where the shrink tubing starts on the mini maxx end and found that there is actually 2 wires inside the power cable, a red and a black. I'm assuming that red is power black is ground or do they both hook up to the purple wire under my dash?? I just emailed H&S but I was hoping to get started tonight so I wanted to see if anyone here knew where to go from here.

Just in case someone else has the same issue here is a response from H&S, that was a fast email I didn't think they would get back to me til tomorrow!!

Thanks H&S!!

Thank you for the email. The power wire is just a generic part with a power and ground. The tuner grounds through the OBD port, so the black wire does NOT need to be used. Strip the red wire back a little and splice it into the purple wire and cap the black wire off.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thanks
