Just got home from the track not happy
The truck seem to wanna cut out or hold third to long, The best i got out of it was 14.73 at 89.78 mph. The slowest was a 15.3 at 88.03 mph the 60 was 2.20 on that run the truck just fell on its face when it launched. The truck keeps on surging/ holding third gear to long and falls off in fourth. Another thing it is doing is it down go back to first when you come to stop and start again it tries to take off in second or third gear. I tried re flashing the truck and it still dont help it. It comes and goes.

Gahanna seems to have some tuning knowledge, and he explained to me that the SCT doesn't go into great detail when rewriting the program within the ECM. So there seems to be some inconsistancies in how one truck reads the program and runs as compared to another. Runs good in one, and like crap in another. My 1.22 runs pretty damn solid across the board. I really don't have any real problems aside from the shifting could be firmed up. My fuel mileage is great and the low end is a beast.... After I tried the underpowered ALTOR tune for all of 1 mile, I reloaded the 1.22 R&D. This time, I returned it back to stock before reloading it. I don't know if that will make any difference, but it reloaded fine again. Right now, the Spartan is the best choice. If SCT doesn't get off their duffs and allow Eric to take it from here, I suspect their sales will come to a grinding hault. I know given the same choices today, I would buy the Spartan. |

Spartan has this all figured out - All Spartan tuned 6.4 trucks track times prove this(provided the driver knows what they're doing). I spent a *great* deal of time with him on the phone and found out that he has addressed ALL of the scenarios that your ECM might see. There were more reasons than you know as to why his product launch was late - like he was busy addressing things the other tuner companies don't want to - or don't have the experience to. I'm glad he has taken the time to address all this. My hat is off to him after seeing how many tables they have to work with. People are seeing extremely consistent trucks whether its drag racing, sled pulling or just beating around town with the Spartan setup. His engine and trans tuning is spot-on and extremely consistent. My SCT is history as soon as I order my Spartan setup which will be very soon. Last edited by gahanna-6.4 : 08-20-2008 at 04:06 PM. I am seeing no improvement, or very slight. Unloaded or loaded seems not to matter. I just completed a 2000 mile round trip pulling 11500 lbs and managed an average of 8.8 mpg. Stock running the same weights netted 8.4. I tried the 150 tune, on and off cruise, 210 tune, 250 tune. It did not matter the mileage was always in the mid to high eights or a couple of tanks high sevens. Basically I am fed up with this truck, I love every part of the interior ride and handling, but the mileage just sucks, it always seems that I have to be running 20 + lbs of boost to have any power at all and with that kind of fuel and boost you will never get good mileage. Using my 03 dodge 5.9 48RE the same weights netted 11-12mpg. God I miss that truck. |

Actually, yesterday on a 220 mile trip, i got 27.3 mpg with a tail wind. From all the posts I've read on mpg issues, I firmly believe the job build is the primary reason for the tunes effectiveness. Every truck getting good gas mileage has been a job 2 or 3 build. I think re-flashing is the way to go if you have a job 1 build.
