Looking to get a new 6.4L?! HELP

Hey guys I am looking to get an 08 6.4L..not new to the diesel world but I am new to the Powerstroke world..had an LLY Duramax for around 5 years and that made around 550HP. Just wondering what everyone thinks about the 6.4L's? is there any nightmares I need to make sure are taken care of? And can I make good power from these Powerstrokes and how(whats the best performance parts for these)?? Thanks guys!!

Delete the filter and egr. Tune it and you should be right where you left off with the dmax, just with a better trans...

The 6.4 trannies are a lot more stout then allison in stock form. You start pushing the torqshift around 575rwhp but it usually will stay around for a while at that hp depending on your driving habits.

As for tuning you have spartan, h&s, and sct if you can't find them. You just need to take some time to search those three and make your own choice

Obviously it depends on your goals and budget. That was a good start list but dont forget to upgrade the CAI. As to which CAI....again it depends on your goals and budget. Below would be my recommendations.
1) No Limits
2) Afe
3) S&B

The tuners will also be based on your goals. I would agree with the rest of the guys that I think SCT, Spartan, or H&S is the way to go.

Nightmares....like any diesel, there are some weak links with the 6.4. The 6.4 definitely does not have as many problems as the 6.0s did. First, the rockers can wear out on trucks with a lot of mileage with the DPF on because the oil gets diluted with fuel during regen and the design to oil the rockers is not optimal. The factory radiators also tend to develop leaks. I would recommend modifying the CCV (either dump to the atmosphere of run it to your exhaust using the Venturri effect (or buy a kit that does this already). If you plan to run it pretty hard, you might consider head studs, a different exh manny (for better flow) and heavier duty up pipes (since the factory up pipes have the 90 degree bend in them and are prone to cracking). Here are just some of the issues with the 6.4. The K16 HPFP also doesn't seem to hold up quite as well the CP3s. With that being said. I definitely would recommend a 6.4. I love mine.
