I all so have been looking at remote starters and one thing about the 08 you can not hookup to the glow plug light because it is computer controled . ford Recommends a 15 second delay on the remote start. all the above replies are for older truck and have a glow plug wire to connect to. good luck in your search. if some one tells you they wired the starter to the glow plugs ask to see it! Keep us posted if you find a go unit for a 08 6.4 as I am in the market to

I just got THIS Crimestopper alarm/autostart combo off of ebay.

And I had to get THIS bypass module to override the PATS system.

I'm no install expert, but I did the install myself. It is not too bad as long as you are comfortable cutting and splicing wires, and can follow instructions that are written for a professional.

The unit works great, has lots of features (turbo timer, pit stop, 2way pager), and it's really nice to have the truck cooled down with the A/C before I get in it.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll sure try to help.

Mark

It works great!! I had the same system, only without the alarm, on my '01.

I really like the "pit stop" feature. That allows me to pull in somewhere for a quick stop, hit a button on the remote, turn the key off and take it with me, while the motor (and the A/C) still run. I can hit the lock button and lock the doors while away and the truck running. If someone were to smash a window and jump in to take off, as soon as they hit the brake pedal the motor dies.

I had the Crimestopper unit in my '01 for 5 years and it still worked great when I sold the truck, so I definitely wanted another one for the '08.

How do you feel about the Viper alarms, I have heard mixed things about them. Would you recommend this product?

Thanks

For anyone who needs vehicle wire locations and other info ive used this site for a few years now. I think they have every car, and where to find every wire for alarm/remote start installs.

Python 990 i love it mile range wait to start for glow plugs, or you can have it on a timer. Has the remote that tells you it the truck is running, weather it is armed, it will tell your if there is a door open and it had a shock sensor. Also if you have a manual you can take 2 springs and put one in front and one behind the shifter under the rubber boot and run the hood pin wire to it so if its in gear the truck wont start. Your really need to get one. Also has a turbo timer that can be set to 1 3 5 or 10 mins. i have mine set at 1. That seem to cool it down enough.
