SCT or Spartan, What to do?
Here is the deal, I already own the sctlive wire with the dpf delete. I really enjoy the power and the way it runs compared to the superchips flashpaq that I have.
With everything that I am reading, the spartan dashdaq sounds like the panacea for these diesel chugging trucks. I am wondering if it is worth purchasing the Spartan Dashpaq with it's custom tunes considering I already own the SCT. Or should I wait for future SCT tunes? I hope to get responses from people who have had both, or are knowledgable about both. I am looking to get increased MPG, the HP gains are just a plus . I can't imagine much more power than the sct has given me, but it's obvious it's out there according to these posts. This truck is my daily driver,08 king ranch 250 4x4 auto,373's, it has 35" grapplers,20"wheels, dpf delete, sctlivewire, afe intake, and 4"all the way out the back. I am getting about 13mpg arond town and about 16.5 highway. Any opinions? |

I would have said Spartan as of yesterday. But after loading up the new r&d tune that should be out soon I would have to say wait for the update and see how you like it. Before the update I would see around 13mpg on the highway running extreme at 75. Now today running the r&d tune I got 17 running 75mph. I'm sure my numbers would be much higher running 65, but I go nuts going that slow. Truck runs WAY better now, no more CEL or reduced engine power flashing up either. It really is a whole new rig once you update the SCT to the new tune that they have coming. Not saying the spartan isn't a badass unit. I'm 100% sure that a truck with the Spartan 250 tune will beat the doors off my truck, but for now I am impressed with the new SCT tune. Give it a shot before you go ahead and order the Spartan.

I have been reading and doing the reaserch for awhile. I will probably go with Spartan when I get ready.

If you have the SCT try the new tunes, it's free. The new tuning is NOT the same as the Spartan 250. I would have to say it feels like it's slightly more power than the 150Spartan with much softer shifting, or a bit less than the 210. I have them both in my truck so I can run either one(you could always do that and sell one at the end). Even the new SCT R+D tune seems to have some issues in some trucks, but works great it mine. That's a tuff call both have there place.

It's almost a pick-em.
The Dashdaq is an attractive unit, more so than the Livewire. But, SCT will be offering custom tuning software for all of it's dealers, and then they can give you whatever your heart desires, whenever you desire it.. On those merits, I'm very happy with my choice. |

The dashdaq display is pure sex for the eyes!!

The Livewire display is in my closet. It's a joke.. I'm using an MSD Dash Hawk for my readings. On THAT merit, the Spartan is the only choice. |
