i have this prob too

not on my 7.3, but on 6.4....after driving 7.3 lawn rig all day then goingh to new 6.4 truck empty it is hard to drive. I ALMOST GOT T-BONED LAST WEEK turning left out of my nieghborhood, damn this throttle response. i pushed the skinny and didnt hardly move. i pushed harder didnt help.

how would ford react to a lawsuit because the truck couldnt evade a situation b/c of the slow throttle response?

when i push a pedal, i want a reaction

I always figured that ford did it to reduce emmisions. Think about it going WOT with 0psi of boost in an older PSD, such as a 7.3, you would get some black smoke. This is why when your running down the road with 20psi of boost the throttle response is better, cause the computer realizes you have boost, so it will give it all the fuel it will inject stock. This is why when you power brake it to say 30psi, you have hardly any lag, the throttle response is great. This has always been my thinking.

...and/or to protect the dpf. If you can't blip the throttle (which would make the puff of black smoke EACH time), it would prevent that much more soot from ending up in there. Basically forcing you to wait for boost before adding fuel.

My anyway.

with as much as these trucks smoke with the dpf off and no tunes they probably needed to reduce it as much as possible

Unfortunately, the ECM quickly relearns and begins dampening your throttle response again. I just tried it in mine and it worked like a charm for about 5 minutes! You would not believe how crisp the throttle was, it felt like a completely different truck TONS of bottom end, roasted the tires like I power braked it - almost as if there was a real cable between my mashpad and the throttle body. Too bad it only lasted a few minutes
Just to be clear, you did this on a 6.4L, or on a V10?

yes i did it on my 6.4. Im sure Ford electronic throttle is somewhat common amongst the differing models, and it did work temporarily, but reverted to dampening after a few minutes.

Our 08 6.4 company truck will put out the tiniest little puff of smoke if I put it into 3rd gear when pulling it up the ramp into the shop and blipping the throttle...
