Used H&S unlocked?

Found a used H&S XRT Pro locally, guy said he did deletes on '11 Dodge. Took everything off when he sold the truck, back to stock.

How do I quickly verify that is Race unlocked and ready to use?

Guy thinks all is well, but not sure. Got a stock 6.4L and LML to try it.

Rather used the 6.4L to check it as warranty is out on it.

Just need a quick verify before exchanging $$.

Just power it up with the USB or OBD cable, go to settings, and there should be a "Status:" area that will either say "Unlocked" or it will have a VIN number.

Does "Unlocked" mean available to be used?

What about checking on the "Race" unlock for the DPF deletes?

Yes. On the main screen, it will also say in the bottom right corner "Power Level Not Available Until Download Installed."

You will have to begin a download and it will ask if the emissions are present or removed. After seeing that screen, just unplug it and it will cancel the download. If you continue clicking until the download actually starts, you will have to wait 15 minutes or so for the download to finish, and then another 15 minutes to return to stock.

these days it can get hairy looking at XRT PRO's because there are four different models. Most likely you're looking at an old race tuner. the firmwear number will tell you if it's a race tuner or street tuner.

on that show settings screen it will show tune installed or tune not installed. You want it to say tune not installed. You can also change vehicles to a different vehicle. If an H&S tuner is loaded to a vehicle, it won't let you change vehicles.

If you post up everything it says on the show settings screen, I can tell you exactly what you're dealing with

Update- Checked out the guy's tuner, did not unload tune from truck that he sold.

It definitely was a race tuner, but still VIN locked for his previous truck.

I obviously did not buy it. Is there any value to it at all?

Still need something to do DPF/EGR on the 6.4L.

Nope. Tell him I'll give him $100 for it. But H&S won't even unlock it.

Attempt to unlock it on my own. I'm in software engineering and I've been wanting to find a cheap locked tuner to work with.
