Key position during Installing Download....?

This is a dumb question however I don't want to screw anything up with my truck...

The instructions to download the tunes into the truck say to turn the key to the "run" position, before downloading. Would this be the same key position where I see the glow plug indicator light, light-up and then turn off without starting the truck?

What are all the key positions for the ignition? Off, Acc, run/on, start?

Wouldn't the key already need to be in this position (run/on) for the Mini Maxx to be on, if so, why or how would I turn it to the "run position then as the instructions state to do? I have the mini maxx hooked up to the keyed power wire (solid purple wire).

I'm not sure if I'm over thinking this but like I said, I don't want to fry my ECM or screw anything up.

Also, the tuner was built in October of last year, and needs to be updated. Should I update the tuner before I install it into the truck? Or install the tuner as is, and then update it? I've been using the mini as a set of gauges to see what the truck is doing stock for now.

(1200* EGTs during regen is stupid while just driving down the highway BY THE WAY!!!)...

Thanks for the advice in advance.

You are correct on the key position. My tuner stays on all the time unless I shut it off
