Anyone broke a BTS 5r?

So the time is coming soon when I can get a built trans, and I want to start asking around on my options.

I am from about 30 mins away from Brian's Truck Shop, and have talked to him numerous times as well as had my 6.0 and now my 6.4 in his shop.

He doesnt like to 100% gaurantee a 5r past 600hp, unlike his unlimited 4r gaurantee.

I've never heard of a displeased customer from him, but has anybody actually toasted a BTS 5r? He also offers a 4r swap, which he is much more confident in. Price difference is negligible between the two options.

Truck probably wont ever get fuel upgrades, but will get everything else up to that point, including turbo(s).

Brian is the man for transmissions. MPD has roasted a few BTS 5rs and a few BTS 4rs. He is on another power level though. I would have no ifs and or butts about going with a built BTS 5r. No questions asked. Especially since you are so close to him I wouldnt even have to think about it honestly LOL

swaping to a 4r will be alot more stout but tuning it and all will be more difficult and if you ever resold the truck it would be harder because someone will have to know what they are getting and what not because not your average guy can just tune one of those things. and the pcs is alittle harder to set up in those trucks vs a 6.0 if it was me i would stay with the 5r

He use to be on here quite a bit. In defense of BTS, it was when he first started building the 5r and was working out bugs. Plus the guy did some sled pulling. His was a 6.0, but trans was still a 5r. I would have put that info on here earlier but my phone decided to die.

SunCoast and Elite Diesel Engineering have the most proven transmissions. The iffy part seems to be the torque converters. I ran a standard SunCoast converter for almost 2 years before it left me stranded on the side road. I am now running a River City Diesel "Ultimate" torque converter. I've had it for a little more than a year with no issues. It hasn't been out through much abuse though. Most people really like their converters. They are Precision based like a lot of converters out there, so it is a tried and tested converter. I believe Elite uses SunCoast and Diesel Performance Converters for their transmission builds.

Thanks all.

I just dont want to be afraid of hooking to a sled if I goto a pull, for fun. Or hitting the drag strip and boost launching it once in a while. I can get that guarantee with a 4r, and it seems hit or miss with a 5r.
