Shop won't install egr delete without wastegate??

My local diesel shop won't install my egr delete kit with a wastegate. They say it always blows head gaskets. I have read tons of info on here about not needing a wastegate. I am not looking to cause a head issue, do I need to invest in a wastegate setup? Thanks for the help.

You don't need one.

If you're not in an emissions state, get rid of the EGR. The BPD coolers are nice but if you're able to just do away with the entire EGR system, that is preferred.

You don't need a wastegate with an EGR cooler delete.

I am confused. I see here people are confident we don't need a waste gate. But are you saying that assuming I won't stuff the skinny pedal and especially on a high HP tune? Or are you confident that I can crank up the tune and race with it without having issues? B/c other threads are somewhat adamant the other way - that we do need the waste gate because the turbos will build too much pressure without one.

I will say that when you do delete the egr it is a good idea to do studs. When you add air/fuel, it is a good idea to do a wastegate. The EGR system acts as a wastegate in some respect I think. I dont blame that first shop at all for wanting to do a wastegate at the same time as it is a great idea. Not many shops would even know or think of that depending on how good they are.
