SCT Problems

Well I bought the SCT programmer since that seems to be the one everyone is recommending, not the extreme. Has all the latest updates, my truck has all the latest flashes... loaded up performance tune and stock shift points... truck shifts like crap! Slams into gear, the 2-3 shift feels like a double hit. Read somewhere here there truck shifting bad until they loaded the race shift points...did that...no different. Read here somewhere they said let the tranny learn so I did that...took 4 days for the truck to reseamble normal shifting. Still dosen't feel right but I don't think the truck will come apart now. So now it's time to pull my 27' Fountain to put it in storage, load the tow tune and here we go again!!! Same horrible shifting. Hooked the boat up and now the truck really feels like it's going to come apart. It has been 3 days since i pulled the boat and its close to the normal shifting again but still not right. Needless to say I just loaded the stock tune back up but haven't drivin it yet.

Talked to SCT via email and they said "No, that is not normal but we are working on a new firmwire for the towing tune" but they have not answered my return requests for info on what the problem is.

Any suggestions?

Site rocks by the way, nice to find people that actually no something about these trucks.

The hard shifting is normal....unless it feel like the tranny is about to fall out of the truck and or its shuttering......if you are going to tow I suggest you go back to stock, until SCT or others can fine tune it

Can you adjust line pressure on the 6.4 programs like you can the 6.0? I can increase or decrease my line pressure by up to 20% I think. I never went that high. I currently run Xtreme Street a -5% on the line pressure. 3 to 5 shift I could stand to lower even more.

When you are used to the smooth as silk shift of a stock torqshift, the SCT tunes can feel a bit harsh.

Love mine on my 6.0, I can make it slam gears or slide em right in smooth as a babies butt!

I just drove the truck stock and everything is normal. My programmer has the normal programs that comes with from SCT. The Tranny does feel likes its going to fall out of the truck but after 3 or 4 days its almost back to normal.

I haven't messed with the tranny tuning any but mine says you can only increase pressures.

Play with it and see what it'll do, that's why it's an option.

Yeah you can mess with the pressure.....when I tested mine and put the pressure all the way up it felt like the powertrain wanted to rip itself out of the truck

Innovative Diesel on another site said increase pressure 10-15% firmer on the race shift points and it should shift fine. I did and everything is grooooovy now. Thanks for the responses.
