Which tuner/chip and Exhaust?
I'm Izord, Live in Southern New Mexico.
I have a 2008 F350 SRW that I daily drive about 15 - 30 miles, and occasionally drive a couple hundred miles. I pull a 38 foot fifth wheel toy hauler a few times a year. I got the truck new in late 2007 and the engine/power train is bone stock. I wouldn't mind having more power and definitely fuel economy. I get around 12-13 mpg driving around. Maybe 14-15 on the highway. It's always been like this, maybe a little worse before it was broken in. As far as I can tell the motor is working according to spec and I've never had any trouble with it. A friend at work said I should chip it for better fuel economy and power. I don't want to go crazy, I don't need to be able to burn off the tires at red lights or anything. Don't need methanol or propane or any kind of injection. Just want a good tuner or chip, with good support, a good company that has been around for a while and sells lots of chips or tuners. Can you recommend something good for me? I wouldn't mind being able to change the program, so ease of programming would be nice. And is it highly recommended to upgrade my exhaust system? Or could I get by pretty well with the factory exhaust and just put on a chip or tuner? Izord |

To get the most benefit you will have to delete your dpf section of the exhaust. Spartan and h&s are the 2 most popular but the h&s is getting hard to find and the price of it keeps going up. They both have their good and bad points as per their reviews but you won't go wrong by choosing either one.

I would use this and not tear apart the truck.

Be careful with that Edge. its pretty dirty.

Go with a Spartan, SCT or HS. Only three that should even be considered for tuning a 6.4.

Pretty stupid to leave the DPF on and say you want more fuel economy.. That's a good reason why it sucks in the first place.
And like TrackStand said which it looks like you overlooked. Cheaper tuners can be like he said "dirty". |
