Shell Rotella T 15 W 40 is hard to beat. There are probadly more diesels on the road today using Shell Oil. If it's a new truck and you want to use Synthetic Motor Oil, put about 20,000 on it and then change it over to a Synthetic Motor Oil like Amsoil.
Dr. enjoy your new truck and Welcome to the ORG.
Post some pictures of your truck and tell us where your from.

im not a big amsoil fan , but im not gonna knock any brand of oil, i run shell rotella my self and thats what i put in all my customers trucks , ill agree that there are more diesels on the road running rotella than probably any other , in my opinion , as long as the oil gets changed in your engine when its supposed to thats the main thing , oil changes and maintenance are very crucial to the life of the powerstroke engine

Running Delo 400 at the moment. I've heard not-so-good things about Rotella's anti-foaming agent breaking down in a PSD

I've always run rotella 15w40. Works perfectly.

And I've never heard of it foaming up and causing HPOP/injector issues on a psd.

Just what I've heard. I'm no analyst or scientist, but I heard their anti-foam agent was JUST good enough to meet requirements for a psd and after 3k miles it starts breaking down because of the high pressure system. This is coming from someone at a local diesel shop (Southeast Diesel in Chattanooga).

*shrug* Maybe I'll just switch to Amsoil

I am running AMSOIL 5w-30 in my 97 Powerstroke and it likes it. Smoth idle, and great starts, Even when its cold. (1 glow in -10) I am running AMSOIL bypass set up, change filters every 7,000 and change oil 1 a year (about 25,000 Miles) I use to use rotella 15w40 and would use about a qt at 3,000 miles. Now I don't see any oil lose untill about 7,000 and thats when I change my filters and top off with new oil. (about 4 qts-bypass filter 2 qts, full flow filter about 1 qt and the last qt to bring it back to the full mark.
