Do I "Need" To Update Mini Maxx?

My truck has been "tuned" for about a year. It runs great, has more power than I need (maybe), and I am extremely happy with it. I have noticed that many owners with a Mini Maxx (or other tuners for that matter) seem to download and update their tuners quite often. Is there any real need for me to update my Mini Maxx?

I would update it. the new tunes are very clean. and for some reason my mpg's are up consistantly 1 mpg so far. not sure if it is me or the tunes but I just thought it was weird that in the middle of winter the last three tanks since i updated have been up.

The answer to your question is YES. I usually wait a week or 2 before updating so that I can digest any feedback from those who can't wait.

I just updated.. Had a 'missing file' issue and the firmware wouldn't update.. called H&S, and left a message w/tech desk... figured it out on my own, by actually reading their page.. Updated entire flash card. H&S called me back, I explained what and why.. went out and reattempted install.. success with no issue whatsoever (by the way, the new tunes load FAST compared to the old).. all is well.. will drive it shortly and will report anything weird..

H&S customer support ROCKS..

I have heard of others having update issues and it makes me wonder what they did to have it go wrong... I just pull my card, install in my desktop and run the updater program. Put the card back in the MM, update the firmware, then install the tune. Done.

???

Yeah thats all. i had problems cause i was using a mac and doing it manually. Everything went fine besides when reformatting the card i didnt notice it was in fat32 or something and it wouldnt format to the fat16. So just went and borrowed grandmas hp and it worked just fine.

I work with hardware and software, mechanical devices far exceeding the complexity of an engine, and worst of all, people who may or may mot know what the hell they're doing all day every day.. the tuner and update procedures would likely be simple if I cared to reverse engineer it... Maybe one day I will.. as for now, though, I've updated it twice, and had the same issue twice..

The fault was 'missing file'.. apparently, a file didn't parse while using the auto updater.. a wiped card, a full sd download, and installing on a clean card did the trick.. no harm, no foul.. tune installed, and about fifty miles later I'm still happy.. but, running the HD tunes puts a puff behind me on accelerations that wasnt there before.. again, not a big deal, bit its there nonetheless..
