Best filters for air dog df165
Hi all. I have been researching for the past hour or two with no real good feelings about which filter and water sep are the best to run with no flow restrictions. I have seen that the cat 1ro751 is really good but requires mods to the brackets and other things. I'm not really keen on cutting anything metal around the fuel system. Also people are saying that the filters that come with the AD are crap and should be changed immediately. I saw the fleet guard cross references as well as donaldson and Baldwin. So guys please help me decide on what filters have the best filtration and flow for the AD. I can't make heads or tails of all the opinions out there. I guess I just need to individually look at the manufacturer data and see how that pans out.
Thanks |

I am running a donaldson P551315 for the filter and the baldwin BF1275 for the water seperator. They are the best you can get. The donaldson filter is a 2 micron absolute, is as good as the cat filter and does not require any modifications to the AD pump

Thats exactly what i ended up with last night after reading countless posts. Do you happen to have the specs on the baldwin WS?

Check this thread out. It has a ton of great info.
May have found a 3um absolute filter for the AirDogs! - Page 3 - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum |

Yep, thanks for that link, I read that entire post last night. I am definitely leaning towards the donaldson filter and the baldwin WS. I just wish i could get my hands on the flow ratings of the donaldson. I just called them and they said that they didn't have it. As for the Baldwin, I am getting them to send me the datasheet. The one you have linked is the 1259. Does that cross with the 1275,
Thanks for your help, |

Yea it seems like those are the best options. THey are what i am running now. The better we can filter the fuel and keep water out on these common rails the better off we are in the long run. Both baldwin and donaldson make good filters.

thanks, did you have any issues with the donaldson fitting. I have heard that the brackets have to be modded for the same CAT filter but the donaldson is supposedly snug but still fits without mods.

Yea it does fit snug because its bigger but it went on without any problems

Good deal,
Do you have the idiot light for the air dog? Any noticible flow issues? Sorry for all the questions. I just don't want to run the filter only to find out that i am starving my HPFP. thank you again, |
