turbo back exhaust
is there any improvement in changing out the down pipe. im planning on installing a 5 inch exhaust shortly. Also if i do change out the down pipe which systems allow you to bolt the stock exhaust back up for emissions inspections

If do a turbo back exhaust you will NOT be able to reattach your stock exhaust. I would suggest doing a dp back exhaust then purchasing a down with flange that way you can go back to stock when it's time for emmissions. That's the way I did mine.

Not true, it depends on the down pipe purchased. If the new down pipe has a ball and socket type connection, your factory exhaust will bolt right back up to it. I have a down pipe from Street Diesel Performance. My factory exhaust bolts back up no problem.

so is it worth doing the down pipe?

I thought so. Slight decrease in EGTs and certainly flows better than the crimped stock down pipe.

I bought a flo-pro 5" Turbo back exhaust.. i replaced factor DP with 4" DP but it doesn't have the ball and socket fitting on it.. is there a way to just purchase the lower half of the DP so i don't have to replace the whole thing up to the turbo? so basically i want to purchase the lower half of the DP that will bolt to the factory exhaust. only reason i'm interested in doing this is returning my truck to stock when i sell it / trade it.. i feel like it would be an easier sell or trade in if its stock form.. plus i want to keep my tuner for the next truck i buy.. |

I guess if I really want to return my truck to stock ... I'll just have to buy one of these down pipes. I really do t have an option . I currently don't have plans to get rid of my truck anytime soon, but I agree... A stock truck is much easier to unload... I'll have to deal with my leveling kit... But stock exhaust is key IMO

I did turbo back, the DP looked like it was going to be a PITA but it was easy, it has a nice size crimp in the DP, what you see under your truck is the outer pipe, there is a pipe inside that one so the true pipe is much smaller, the new DP does away with the restriction and makes it full 4" . I also did the 5" from the DP back with no muffler, I love it, inside that cab its very quiet, out side its not at all what i was thinking it would sound like. I hate the " red neck popping loud exhaust" this sounds great. do it. and you can always put your stock system back on , blots right up to the DP, I got dimond eye turbo back from a member here on this site.

I was looking at the diamond eye turbo back...i found the best deal on ebay and asked if i could bolt the stock exhaust up to to down pipe and they said no. But refered me to the same 5 inch dp back with flange and no dp. Doesnt really make sense that they would have a different flange if you ordered a tb or dp system....guess i will have to call th3m in the morning.
