MPG's on hot tunes
I currently have the SCT tuner with the canned tunes and a 4" Flo-Pro exhaust on my 2008 6.4. I read claims all over the net with guys claiming in the mid 20's for mileage with hot tunes. If I upgrade and get some hot tunes put in, can I expect to see a significant gain in mileage? Before the DPF delete and tuner, I was only getting 14-15 mpg mixture between highway/city driving (always hand calculated). Now with the tuner and dpf delete, I am only getting 13.7-14.8 between city and highway. I dont have a heavy foot, and if anything, I figured the mileage would have went up.
Also, anyone know where to get a good deal on hot tunes that is reputable? It sounds like many places want 350-400 for 3-4 hot tunes. Just curious to see what's out there. Thanks, Caleb |

Those people that claim that 20+ mpg are going off the dash after they reset it going down hill lol. My truck gets about 13 deleted if I'm lucky. Only way to get that kind of mileage is to do all your driving at 50-55 mph where your rpms are low and your going at a decent rate. You can't be doing 75mph on the highway, taking off fast. Etc. I have tried no power and hot and results are always very similar.

On the highway (75mph) I get around 18mpg. If I'm 60-65 it's 19-20mpg. More importantly for the tank full... no regens. Also, I've said it before, but I reset my LOM every fill up and it runs fairly accurately. Whenever I fill up my distance to empty runs from 480-510 miles and that's fairly accurate as well. I don't drag race from light to light, and I typically don't haul *** unless there's a good reason. I just changed wheels and tires (taller) so I'm turning far less rpm than I used to, so this next week I'll find how how the taller gearing and the M/T tires mix.

I get 16-17 at 75-80 mph as well. I get on it when I enter the freeway, but that's it. I'm not really a stop light warrior but I have fun now and again. I use to get 13.5 stock.
Oh and I run the spartan 300 tune. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App |
