All in one whack
The radiator is leaking on my '08 job 1. Big surprise, huh? There is evidence it has been replaced at least once, marks on the bolts that have to be removed to replace radiator. It currently has 138K on it. I am hoping it will hold out until after the first of the year, it's a very small leak. When I am changing it out I will replace the radiator hoses to the new style and replace the t-stats just to be safe. I will also flush and change over to CAT EC-1. While I have it torn down I will go ahead and install an EGR delete. I also want to remove the CAT/DPF. I am just not sure which route to go with the exhaust system. I want to ditch the EPA crap and maybe the muffler. A little louder is ok but I don't want it to sound like a pulpwood truck going down the road, nor do I want a truck that will smoke like a tar kettle. What type of exhaust setup should I go with?
I have no interest in increased HP, or more torque. I am doing this simply as engine preservation. |

Ditching all the EPA crap is the first thing I'd do if your state doesn't do emissions testing.
The 6.4, even with a 5 in straight pipe, is far from loud. |

You will need a tuner regardless , so you can delete the items your talking about , you can just run it on no power level with dpf/egr deleted , you will still tell the differance , as far as sound , when you decide its a matter of preferance as for sound is not to noticable from 4"-5" , as far as a muffler i cant say they help ,ive heard they really dont help out ,so i ran 5" straight back , and love the sound , as far as smoke you wont notice any differance , you may get to blow some smoke at WOT but thats running no power tune , if you have it on high level tune ,you would see some more smoke at WOT , but not just your every day driving your fine , lots of choices but your on track from a reliablity stand point
