egr/cooler delete question

i see a lot of kits that delete the egr valve and the coolers with block off plates.

A lot of people on here say that if i remove the egr valve i need a wastegate

im looking at the sinister kit and it mentions nothing about needing to install a wastegate.

so whats the FACTS on this? I use my truck for hot shot work and have tune with egr shut off.

I have a kit also that I haven't installed yet but it doesn't include a wastegate either, so I would like to know more about this as well.

With just a tuner, intake and exhaust a wastegate isn't really necessary. Many, many people are set up like this without one and have no issues .

I already had too much boost build up once and let off the throttle. it caused the gasket between the turbos to leak and cracked the pass side exhaust manifold at the flange.

Must have just been luck of the draw because most people with just the supple add ons do not have one. I guess if you had the cash got it and figure that is what caused the problem then it doesn't hurt to get one but in most cases it just isn't necessary. Maybe some of the guys with more experience in them will chime in.
