Engine oil temp question, '08 with mini maxx
Ever since I put my mini maxx on (around a year ago) my engine oil temp sits around the 210-220* area. My coolant temp is always around 195-205* and is around 15-20* difference most of the time. This is all unloaded on flat road cruising and under acceleration, so I'm not working the truck hard at all.
Would this be a sign of an oil cooler going bad? It only has 75K on it. |

If the difference is 15-20 then that's a good possibility of it being plugged.

I thought the difference was supposed to be about 15 degrees and if it went much more than that it was a sign of the cooler getting plugged.

Typically unloaded 4-6 is normal. 6-9 or so is what I get towing.

Thats what I go by, I would be looking into your oil cooler. |

try a coolant flush with restore and restore plus or mc vc9. oil temp is a bit high. a flush could save your cooler.

Thanks for the reply guys. I had my radiator replaced along with a coolant flush about 10K ago or so which was right before I deleted and tuned it. Could it be getting clogged again already? Is there any additive I can put in the coolant to clean the cooler up and flush it soon?

Yep it sounds like a clogged oil cooler. I would do a flush with restore and restore plus. It may no unclog your oil cooler but hopefully clean your system well before you replace the oil cooler. I would also look into a coolant filter.
