Well new to the forum and diesels. I picked up an 08 F-250 King Ranch Crew Cab after I retired from the Corps. Figured it as a retirement present to myself. But I have been lurking around the board for a few months and reading a plethora of threads. I finally decided to order my H&S Mini Max, S&B Cold Air Intake, and Exhaust (DBF Back). I plan on gutting a spare DOC/DPF I acquired from a friend of mine. Hopefully I will still get the same gains as doing a DOC/DPF delete. Just wanted to say thanks to Performance Truck Products, outstanding prices and free shipping?! Can't beat it. Also thanks to all of you on the board, without all of you posting up your experiences and knowledge I would still be in the dark. Much appreciated. I'll be sure to post some pics once I get back to the states and get everything installed.

First off congrats, and Semper Fi. Secondly, that is theroute I went. I hollowed out an extra cat and DPF after speaking to Rudy's Diesel, and they said it would be fine. I have not had an issue yet. The only thing that may be different is the note of the exhaust. My truck is not much louder than stock.

SVTDiesel thx for the congrats and the info. Not so much worried about the tone of the exhaust as I am about the performance gains. Which with reading all the posts, I think I will be pretty happy with it. S/F

Ditto...Congrats. You will fall in love with your truck after you delete. You will love the power, you will get better fuel economy, and it is the first step to making the 6.4 bullet proof. I would also like to suggest deleting your EGR coolers if you do not have to ever worry about emmisions. It would be the next item to do in making your truck reliable for the long haul. You should also consider doing a coolant filter kit (Cheap and easy to install) no matter what you end up doing.
Good Luck & Enjoy, Turbo Kidd |

You read my mind. My plan is to do the EGR Cooler Delete and Coolant Filter next. Have to wait for the funds to build back up.

If you hollow the dpf, and keep the dpf back stock it doesnt change the note much. But if you buy a 4" dpf back with no muffler you will pick up a little more sound, because the factory tail pipe has a muffler/resonator in it. these trucks are very quiet even when straight piped.

TravisH3,
I have a hollowed CAT/DPF and run a Magnaflow straight through muffler to tailpipes that look similar to stock just larger diameter. My truck is still quiet. I also have the 71mm, egr delete, 275 tune, cac cold side pipe. What the heck am I doing wrong, I want it a little louder. |

Do you have a single 71mm set up or is it still twin turbo'd? the single turbo will definitely be alot louder, here is a video of mpd's 6.4 with single turbo, it sounds wicked |
