Another intake question
Ok, so I bought my 09 f250 about 3 months and it came with a K&N intake, not just the filter but the entire intake. My plan was to get an AFE stage 2 intake. However, i started to think if it's actually worth it to get rid of my K&N for the AFE or just bank the money for a different mod. DPF delete and H&S tuner will be ordered sometime before December. Any thoughts?
Also, if I do go the AFE route what are the differences between the intakes? http://afepower.com/diesel.php?diese...d=F1&brandID=1 I understand the different filter types oil vs non oiled, but why are the enclosed filters supposed to give so much more horsepower and tq? I thought I had this all figured out, but apparently I don't. Any help is appreciated. |

You might as well just keep the K&N unit for now. One you are deleted, keep an eye on it and see how it performs.
AFE has too many intake kits in my opinion, they could have just made one stage 2 kit and been done. We have not seen any significant increases from one version to the next. We typically go with a 51-11262 or 75-11262. AFE has 3 different filter medias to choose from; Pro Guard 7 (best filtering) Pro 5R (best flowing) and Pro Dry S (no oil). |

Thanks for the reply. It seems most people's problem with the K&N is the filter. Is it possible to put a AFE filter or another brand on my K&N intake?

Are you having a problem with the K&N filter? If not, leave it alone and clean it as recommended.
