SCT Livewire ECU Lock out

Went to start my truck tonight, hopped in an turned the key on and didnt hear the pump run and waited to start the truck since i was texting, then i turned the key and nothing happened. I had absolutely no sound and the truck didnt make a noise or even attempt to fire. All lights worked I started messing around with my SCT(with Innovative Tunes) which was telling me my trailor brake module was acting up and it turned out i had a C code which i wasnt sure what that was since im new to this. I deleted the C code and the truck started up. I backed up 5 feet and my truck litterally just shut off. It wasnt like a studdering shut off, it just plain shut off. I then put my truck in park and i was locked out of the ecu on my tuner. I couldn't see any codes. I unhooked the batteries and the rehooked them and that didn't change anything. I unhooked them again for some reason and left them unhooked for a good 20 minutes. When i reconnected them and tried to reprogram my truck it worked.

I'm somewhat new to diesels and especially new to tuners and i had no clue why my truck acted up this evening. The only thing i could think of was the fact that i had my battery removed when doing the EGR delete and i've driven about 100 miles since that and that has something to do with it. I'm stumped, SCT will be getting a call monday. Maybe my software needed updated. Has anyone ever had a problem like this?

What code is it throwing? My h&s was doing the same thing and it was the obdII connector and cable going to my tuner messing with the computer. Mine through a u0073.

Im not sure what the code was i just know it was a C code cause i cleared it. My tuner was telling me that it couldn't read my truck and that my tuner isn't for my truck. When i was locked out on the dash i had the car with a lock on it flashing at me. I was stuck in park i couldn't put my truck in neutral. My tuner wasn't letting me look for codes or do anything and then like i stated in the first post after i unhooked the batteries for like a half hour an hooked them back up my tuner was working fine. i just had to set my truck back to stock an then reload the tune which took all night.

This all happened at my buddies house and when it first wouldn't start i cleared the C code and it fired up, i actually backed out of his driveway 5feet and was half way out onto the road and then the truck shut off. Then i was locked out for about an hour and a half and magically i could get back in.

Im not sure what caused this problem, i was locked out of everything and couldn't do anything with my tuner. An then all of a sudden it unlocks...makes no sence to me.

Im just glad this happened at a buddies house and not in the mountains.

I got in touch with SCT and they were unsure of the problem and unsure of why it happened. I plugged my tuner into my computer and they updated it but now i lost all of my custom tunes. I bought the truck with this tuner in it so i dont have any copies of them. Not sure what i can do about that yet. The tuner has one tune on it called 6.4L Super Duty which im not sure what that is or where it came from.

Not sure if SCT was serious or not when they said they never heard of the problem but for anyone that this happens to i wish you good luck. I was completely stuck to the point that the cable that runs into my tranny had too much tension on it to release it to put my truck in neutral an get it off the road.

Update...

Truck locked up again, to the point where i can't check any codes or return vehicle to stock or anything. Lucky for me my truck is sitting in my driveway this time and not halfway out onto the road blocking 1 lane of traffic.

I've checked battery voltage and unhooked batteries over night and done everything SCT has asked and they still are unsure of the problem. They've given me two recovery files which both have failed.

At this point I rate SCT support an 8/10. They know what their talking about an their good people to work with but im 19 and work 35 hrs a week and go to school at the same time so therefore I don't have time to trouble shoot with them all day long with my schedule. Which is another reason why this is a slow process. What really pissed me off was the fact that for 3 days the one tech was telling me to plug my tuner into another ford vehicle and try to read the stragedy on that. I have a buddy with 03 ford expedition that i asked if i could plug my tuner into it to do so. With my schedule I didn't have time which is why it took 3 days, but would still call in to SCT everyday and talk about the problem with them and each day i asked if reading the stradegy on a 03 expedition 5.4l GAS would be okay. They said it would be fine and it would read on any ford vehicle. Once i got around to reading the stradegy and it failed, they told me that my device would only read the stradegy on another 6.4 powerstroke. The fact that i went out of my way for nothing got to me after triple checking to make sure that would be okay, especially after my truck has been sitting for over a week now an they don't know what to do.

The next step according to SCT is to remove the PCM and send that as well as the device to them. They said they're going to hook the PCM up to their bench and take care of the problem on them but i have to pay shipping their and back.

They think that this truck never got the PCM software update and thats why this is happening. I'm the second owner so Im not sure if it was ever updated.

SCT told me the last thing to do would be to go to ford and get it flashed because ford will tell me they can't flash it because its still tuned and that theyll just try to make me buy a new PCM.

I got a hold of Eric at Innovative and talked to him about what happened and he was deffinetly really cool to me about the problem. He gave me new tunes for free and told me if i got my truck down to him he would fix the problem. The problem with that is my truck was stuck in park and i couldnt get it out of park and didnt want to drag it onto a roll back or trailor to get it down there.

During this hole process i found out about the cable that connects to the tranny and dropped that, that way i can move my truck into neutral if need be. That way i can get it onto a trailor an get it to innovative if i decide to go that route.

I left Eric a message today about what i should do with sending my PCM and tuner to SCT just to get his opinion, so hopefully i'll hear from him tomorrow.

So after my long rant this is where the situation sits.

If anyone has any advice or imput on the situation that would be great.

Took the PCM out and shipped that with the tuner down to SCT to be flashed and recovered. They were suppose to have the devices for 1 day an ship them back asap. I had to pay to ship which i wasnt too happy about but whatever, i called the see the progress on the recovery. They told me they havent gotton to it and will get to it later in the day and ship the next. I call in the next day for a tracking label and they say they havent shipped it yet(noon). I tell them to call or email me back and give me a tracking label and let me know what happened and what they did by the end of the day once they ship it and i got a response "we don't do that".

Call in the next morning for the tracking number and they tell me they still havent gotton to it and it will be done by 2 o clock that day. I was busy and didnt have a chance to call them back and they emailed me saying that i needed to ship the TCM down now because they need to flash the tcm with the pcm.

Why wouldnt they tell me that in the first place when they told me to ship the pcm and my tuner down to be flashed and recovered?

Anyways i refused to pay to ship the tcm down because they made me pay the shipping for the pcm and tuner BOTH ways so they did give me their ups account # to bill for the tcm to which was okay.

Guess ill have an answer this week once i pull the tcm an ship that and figure all this out.

Yeah this is a long process im realllllly thankful that this time that i was locked out it was in my driveway an not halfway out onto the road like before.

And too add im glad my truck isn't my DD or else i would be SOL.

I will be pulling the TCM after work tomorrow and shipping that.

Couldn't budge the two 13mm's that hold the tcm bracket to the frame so I moved the "splash guard" or whatever its called and got the 2 8mm's off the tcm tonight and it started pouring so i called it a night.
Gotta unhook the wire and wiggle the tcm out of the bracket yet.

Anyone know any tips for doing that? Seems to me there is minimal space

Eric has been a helpful hand through this entire process. Really appreciate Innovatives help, deffinetly good guys there in my book.

Update,
Got all my devices recovered, have to go to ford for the calibration update and then get the newest version of tunes from innovative for the new calibration.

Finally got everything back, unwrapped the PCM and installed it, next unwrapped the TCM and installed it, everything was going smoothly, pull out my livewire device and the screen is smashed.

Talked to SCT they will take care of it for free.

Good customer service but can I get a break?!?

SCT is thinking my truck locked out because i never got the calibration update. I'm the second owner, got this truck 4,000 miles ago.
