downpipe help

I'm in the middle of trying to get my downpipe out. I pulled the pipe down as low as i could, took the sawzall and cut it above the kinked section. Its hung up on that heat shield and and its not budging. I can wiggle it but its hung up against the transmission, and the firewall when i wigggle it. How did you guys do it. Any tips. My last ditch attempt is gonna be taking the tranny cross member off and pulling the tranny to the side as ive read.

What are some tips you guys have

If I remember correctly, I rotated mine as i pulled down on it and it came right out. I do remember not being able to pull it straight out. Keep wiggling, rotating, and finagling, I did not remove my cross member.

I cut mine off just north of the kink in the pipe. and rotated clockwise if you are looking up.

Yup just have to turn it as ya go. I got it kinda wedged so i had to make it turn. Worked on it like an hour the previous night and went out and 10 minutes it was out. New downpipe went in with no issue at all, just went right where it was supposed to. I was fearing the worst especially snce i wrapped the downpipe. Thought it was gonna be a PIta

I bought a 15' roll of 2" wide DEI titanium wrap. It covered like 2/3 of the top piece of the 2 piece downpipe. Which is what i wanted to try and keep some heat out of the engine bay.

I wasnt impressed with the steel zip ties. I bought a 4 pack of them and they just didnt get tight enough for my liking i even used a pair of needle nose to pull em TIGHT still not great. I left em on there bu i also used this tool i have that makes hose clamps out of stainless safety wire and put a wire clamp on each end. I bet regular hose clamps would work great
