S&B Cold Air Intake Thwoing Codes Anyone?

I installed an S&B Cold Air Intake (Cleanable Filter) a few months back and it installed very easy and the product seems to be great quality. After 700km or so a Check Engine Light came on and I hooked my truck up to my computer to check the code (Ford wants $150 to a "Diesel Diagnostic") and found that it threw a P2002- Diesel Particulate filter efficiency below thresh hold Code. After some research I found out that this can be caused by an aftermarket Cold Air Intake sending too much air through the system and messing with the way to sensitive sensors. I cleared the code and it came back 400km later. I re installed the stock system and have no gotten a code in 2000km. I just thought I would share this with you guys out there because I emailed S&B asking if they have any solutions for my problem and that although I love their product I have decided to keep it in the box until I do my DPF Delete and remove that dumb filter all together. I was surprised when I was emailed back the same day and was told this...

Kenny,
Thanks for the email. I do have a temporary solution for you. Its a billet MAF plate that angles the MAF sensor so its reading the right amount of air. It seems to be working for the few guys with the same issue. This issue ins't very common considering the number of kits we sell but we are going to make a change. We are in the process of changing the mold to incorporate this but the plate is a quick fix. I'm having some more plates being machined as we speak so I will send one to you as soon as they are ready. Please reply with a shipping address. I apologize again for the inconvenience.

I'm assuming most people dont have this issue because most people that do this upgrade also have their DPF removed. Anyways, its obviously a common enough problem that they are changing the mold of the intake and are sending out free plates in the mean time.

Just thought I would share my experience with you guys.

Kenny

Some of the 08 trucks will trip a code if they arent running a DPF delete tuner. We usually tell guys with 08's to leave the intake stock until they are ready to do everything.

I installed my S&B a year before doing the DPF delete and it would throw that code every so often. It would only throw it after a regen cycle but not every one.

Thanks for the reply, makes me feel a little better about the stupid CEL. Even though I know its not serious its annoying having the Engine Light come on in a truck with under 30,000km.

Mine did the same thing. I cleared the code and it didn't come back on after that. I did stay out of the pedal a little bit more though after I cleared the code and I thinks that's why.

You need to pull the trigger on the tuner, I just did mine and all I can say is you wont regret it and youll ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner.
