I use the 300 hot damn tune (on 300) & S1M to pull a 3000lb boat & a 5000 lb truck camper. The dash mpg says 11.9 as rule. Speed around 60-70 mph. In alaska rolling hills and elevation increase. No problems so far. Try to keep the rpm around 2000-2500

I am using the hd300 for towing. I use either the no power or mild settings. I haven't seen any difference in temps between the 2 settings.

I just got back from a river trip towing a 12k lb 37 ft fifth wheel between houston and new braunfels in the hot texas heat.
I towed using HD300 no power (50 HP) and s1m tranny tune. EOT was right around 203 and ECT was right around 199-201 the whole time. TFT never got above 173. EGTs between 650-800. I definitely had to keep it running about 67-70 mph (1750-2000 rpm) especially with the s1m tune. You dont want to lug the transmission along at low speeds in overdrive. At low rpms my EGT would jump up to 1000-1100 easily. Dash was showing 15.1 mpg. |
