finally did an egr delete

it only took me 12 hours lololol. ok my excuses - 1 hr for rain to pass, 1 hr to find the boot clamp finally remembered i slid it down the pipe, 2 meals and 1 more hr to find the exhaust mani bolts. the 2 underneath were a lot easier than they looked. havent had a chance to run it but idled for a while. the boots on the cold cac pipe are pretty short and i think theyre gonna blow off. used a cleaner and hairspray.

glad i did this. my coolantnof course is very dirty. i think one of the bigger pipes is corroding and causing deterioration and rust and scale. so definitely coolant flush on the way with updated pipe, thermostats, and restore(s), etc. also discovered one of my batteries going low. time for a new set.

the delete cleans up the bay real nicely making a lot of areas more accesdible. good way to get to know the engine.

used flo pros and rcds manual. was very helpful to read claytons thread as well - EGR Delete-Full Install (Long+Pics)

hopefully everything will run very smooth.

I had the same issue with my IC boot to intake elbow being really short. I am currently looking for a longer boot. I have found some, but dont want to buy the whole truck worth of boots. Also, did you have an issue with your block off plate for the lower exhaust lining up? My holes were not drilled properly and were out of spec 1/4" if not a little more. I had to drill mine out to make it work. I sent flo pro an email, and they said they had a bad batch, but since I fixed it already there was nothing they could do.... It didnt make me happy at the time but now Im over it.

I did the same kit and love it! Simple to install and seemed like quality parts!

yeah in my short search all i found was the dieselsite boot set. hopefully theres a retailer that carries a single boot.

got lucky with the plugs and plate. i wouldve been extremely peeved to alter this kit to make it fit. if the intake elbow was spun a 1/4 inch counterclockwise it wouldve lined up just about perfect and take up less boot and consequently not needing a bigger boot. i have a flo pro cold cac pipe on the way. maybe itll line up a little better.

flo pro should somehow compensate owners for their lack of quality. its a small piece but a very big deal if it doesnt fit. its vital for operation of the truck.

Would you guys recommend this kit? I am looking on line right now looking for a kit to delete my egr. I am still confused after days of research as to what exactly I should delete cause some guys say its bad cause of waste gate issues and to just shut it off and most say to get rid of it all? I mean it sounds like a good idea to me, less is more rt?? haha

thanks a bunch jason!

made it to ford and picked up a longer boot (backup) thats for the cold cac pipe where it fits on bottom part of the pipe to the intercooler. not cheap.
