2008 F-250 upgraded!
I just installed a 4" downpipe back Flo-pro exhaust, AFE 7 layer intake, and a H&S Mini Maxx. The truck was DPF deleted by some "custom" means and had one of those lame DPF-R boxes installed when I bought it, that had to go!!! It is like a new truck!!! I LOVE IT!!!
My only question now is, why does it make the loud noise when you let off the throttle as if there is some kind of pressure relief valve letting loose? I thought these trucks didn't have BOVs. Head Studs and EGR delete to follow!! |

More than likely its "turbo bark" or one of the oher many names it can be called, most modded diesels do it when you get off the throttle quickly when you are under a load... it's not great for your engine but letting it happen every now and then won't really hurt anything

Unless you want to make big power, you can save your money and not do headstuds. They are never a bad idea, but the 6.4 doesnt have the issues the 6.0 had. These studs hold up. I would take that money and invest it into an Air dog 2, or a coldside pipe, or full Down pipe. Another good cheap mod is a CCV mod.

Congrats man, thats a HUGE improvement over the DPF-R offering.
If we can help with an EGR kit, let us know. |

I had my truck tuned and deleted, with the stock air box, it make that "swoosh" noise your describing.
After I installed the AFE stage 2 intake, it started to make that noise, so I was also wondering what that was! Sounds cool, but idk how good or bad- if any of those- is on the healthiness of the engine. |

It's compressor surge.

More Info....
So i went to the Ford dealer today to check and see if they had a EGR cooler hose I needed, since I have a "bandaid" hose installed. The dealership i bought it from (not a ford dealer) repaired the exhaust leak it had due to a missing bolt and the stock hose began to leak.
So to continue... I went to the Ford dealer today and had them pull up an Oasis report, my truck has 199K miles and at 132355 it would appear the motor blew and they put in a new short block, heads, EGR valve, housing assembly, rocker arms and radiator hoses! The Venturi Tee and Radiator had been done too. looks like I got a good deal for 19500 out the door with airbags and a B&W Gooseneck! |
