My first 6.4! Egr questions...

Hey guys, I just picked up an 08 6.4 and am going to delete the egr and have a few questions. I am going to be running an xrt and a 5inch with a k&n intake. I have been told that the cab has to come off to delete the egr system on the 6.4 but have heard it can be done without cab removal,I have quite a bit of diesel mechanic knowledge and am debating on doing it myseld but I kinda hate to fool with it since the dealership priced me a pretty good price on deleting it.700 bucks if I bring the parts. What do you all think? Should I do it or let them? does the cab have to come off? What egr delete is the best? Thanks

A friend and I deleted both coolers on his 08 f250 in his driveway with a fair amount of tech knowledge and a really good write up. It wasn't very hard and we did not have to pull the cab. We had to finagle one of the coolers around the steering shaft but with a couple small cuts to my arms and some not so nice words I got it out.

I deleted mine in my driveway, cab on. FloPro kit. Took 10 hrs and I was cussing like a sailor, but I only paid $100 plus my Friday afternoon/night for it...

I did the same, installed in my drive way with basic tools took me about 8 hours and a lost 13mm deep socket. I went with the ptp delete and afe stage 2 intake and used this thread for some help. EGR Delete-Full Install (Long+Pics)

Alright sounds like its definitly doable. Think I should jack up the cab for more room? And is there anything I can really screw up in there?

Taking the drivers side fender well liner out makes things a little easier. I'm sure jacking the cab up a little would help too, but it isn't necessary.

I did mine in my shop, Right at 7 hrs of work, with a buddy helping. Only cost me $30 in beer and pizza. No need to raise the cab. I didnt even pull the fender liner. If you have a friend with smaller forarms, or some longer ratchet extensions you can get at everything no problem.

I would highly suggest having a second person on hand to help you when it is time to pull the coolers. It makes it much easier. The rest of the task can be done by yourself, but the coolers do not come out easy.

a second person is nice even though my friend pretty much watched me do it all -_-. Also i did take the inner fender off made the lower cooler easier to remove but my truck was lifted so i didnt have to pull the rim/tire. Its all personal choice good luck with the install.
