S&B Performance Filter testing.

As some of you may know I have been given an opportunity to test and review a new air filter and system for 6.4L Powerstroke from S&B.

In this thread I will do a complete install write up as well as everyday performance testing and will at the end give personalised review of how the product performed and my opinion of it.

This system will be installed on my truck, a 2008 Ford F-450 Lariat Powerstroke. Performance wise my truck is bone stock with the exception of an Airaid intake I received from HammerDown15. Since this will be taking the place of that intake it is not of consequence. I have no exhaust mods and no tuner so this will be a level playing field test.

The install will be tonight or tomorrow and pics will fallow but in the mean time here are pics of what I received. The kit came with two oiled filters, one non-oiled, the housing, connecting boots and hardware and a precision II cleaning kit.

Any insight as to what is supposed to be "different" about this kit?

Looks like the housing is a bit different

That kit is S&B's updated version for the 6.4L, part number 75-5054 or 75-5054D for dry. The kits only come with one filter though, not three, and the cleaning kit is purchased separately as well. The housing is changed from the original version making it easier to install and service the filter.

Unfortunately, I dont think you are going to notice much, if any, difference on a bone stock truck. A modified truck would have much different results.

As soon as I can get H&S or Spartan to send me stuff to test I will really give it a good review.
