Boost & head studs

How much boost can you safely run on a stock 6.4 before worrying about lifting a head or requiring head studs. Are egts more of a problem to correct than boost with mods?

Your EGTs will probably go up with mods, mine did with my Spartan anyways.( more fuel more heat).

Fords gauge says 40 psi so I would imagine that is what Ford thinks is the safest. Going over 40 psi boost, I guess you are risking blowing a head gasket.

Now with that said there are many people here running different tuners and are getting higher then 40 psi boost and are still on stock head gaskets. There are also others that have blown them as well.

I believe the last update Ford had limited boost to 37psi.

New to diesel world, how do you limit boost? Waste gate or tuner parameters? I bought a mini max, s&b intake, & 5" exhaust, hopefully I will pick up the truck Friday. Is modding a truck with over 100,000 miles a time bomb?
Thanks for the time
Mike
