Best tune
I bought a 08 F350 DRW about 2 months or so ago. Did a bit of reading before I bought and decided to tune. Has been tuned for a couple of weeks now. Went the economic route, used. Spartan, AFE DPF CAT delete pipe, and AFE CAI. The truck pulls a 3 horse goose neck trailer more often than not. I am running the 210 early lock, looking for the mileage, just thought this would be the best starting point.
The other day was driving with one horse and the truck started jerking. Just trying to tap into past experiences as to what this would be. Would the 250 tune be better, or should I look at one of the other 210 tunes. The truck has 79k on it. It didn't do this on a couple hundred mile trip stock. But would it be a converter issue. Mainly looking for the best tune to run. By the way love the truck pulls way nicer than the 02 7.3 much more power. Will be staying in the garage for a while. Do some reading. The jerking is a common problem with Spartan. Do not use the higher tunes on a stock engine unless you want problems.

Cheapest fix sell the spartan and buy a H&S .

When I did some reading sounded like it was also a isolated issue with H&S. But nothing I found with any resolve. Not thinking it is Spartan specific. Wasn't real bad just wanting to bite it so it doesn't get worse. Is it something I will just have to feel with. I called Spartan yesterday and just said to try different tunes. So before I aimlessly start trying different things was looking for advise first.

I think they call it axle wrap and touchy throttle. I have not seen people complain about this that have other tuners. I have the same problem and was told to change my fuel filters. My fuel filters get changed with every oil change so I now that's not the problem.
I then was told to get traction bars, etc etc... |

SCT Livewire and Matt from Gearheads 'heavy tow' tune. decent economy and AMAZING shifting....

Have even read some with SCT withsame thing. Sorry not looking to play one tuner against any other. Reason for not posting under problems is I'm more wondering what others are towing in and if other either in 210 or 250 have run into anything this, EGT's, or anything else.

I get some huck a buck driving on rough roads, but thats from my foot bouncing. Are you sure this isn't your problem?

This statement is far from true. There are plenty of People running big tunes on trucks with just intake, exhaust and tune.

As far as the foot. I would be second guessing my self with this question, but I'm sure that was not my issue. Road was somewhat fresh black top, still black.
Spartan said to try the 250 tune but with plenty on warning to watch EGT's. Have a 75 mile pull tomorrow just debating on loading it. If someone could confirm some EGT numbers before I load it, it would make me more at ease. Sent from my SCH-I500 using AutoGuide.Com Free App |
