I'm in the same boat!!
I have a 2010 F450 4x4 and I'm ready to put some power into it.
I pull a 15k pound boat and want to do a tuner and some of the deletes required to gain the power and reliability.
I guess its time to make the phone call because the more I read the more I get confused..lol.
Power and reliability....
Deletes are very good for relaibility, DOC/DPF and EGR will all help keep the beast running longer and cleaner internally and cooler EGT's.
Tuner.... Power = fuel + air. More Fuel more air required = more power and higher EGT's. Heat is really an enemey of Diesel engines. Too much heat will shorten the life span of the motor.
Relaibility comes from cleaning up the motor ( deletes) and smart fueling ( Tuning + driving). Just deleting this and adding that will get you more power to the right foot but it is all in the application of the power as to wether you gain any reliability and longevity. I read about lot of Blown up diesel trucks on this forum, usually due to operator error and too much power use the wrong way.
When towing heavy (15K is heavy) I use the no power setting on my "Mini" to keep EGT's in a managable range and drive it like a big truck, that to say I am not in a hurry to get places and I let the machine cool down when I get there.
Daily I use a mild setting as it get me the most fuel mileage and least smoke.
While you tuning don't forget the Fuel system FASS or AIR Dog will also help reliability and a CAI to beathe a little.
Nate and Eric should be able to set up up just fine.
