Pulling the EGR valve

Hey guys just trying to see what peoples views are about pulling the EGR valve out I have heard its a bit*h. I heard if you use the puller tool ford uses it will strip the puller out, another tech told me to use an air chisel which I really don't want to but if there no other way to remove it then I guess I don't have a choice my truck got 50k on it any ideas?

I wrapped safety wire around the tabs at the base of the valve, then ran a big prybar throuch the wire, and used the alternator as a pry point. The valve wil pop right out, after a little convincing. Be careful where your face is when you're prying on it though, becasue when it comes out, it POPS out (I may have punched myself right in the jaw )

Would soaking it with some Kroil help pulling it out?

How does it go back in? Do we need to tap it in with a rubber mallet?

Kroil wouldn't hurt, it never does, LOL

Going in is easy! It will just pop right in and you'll shake your head and say "why the he ll was it so had to get out?"

I believe he is referring to the 6.0, the 6.4 is much different, I could pull my 6.0 by hand with ease....I can tell you that the 6.4 won't come out like that!

I believe you have to have a special tool to pull the egr valve on a 6.4. I have heard even with the tool most the time it breaks.
