interested in a new intake to go with my mini maxi tuner and 5" exhaust. read good stuff about s&b and afe. heard the are is a little louder which makes me lean more towards it. i know there are other brands out there so throw some suggestions out to me and describe the noise and performance it gives to the truck if you can

Love my afe, you start to get on it and you can really hear the turbos spool up. And it's not just because of the exhaust because I installed the intake later.

I have an S&B. Great set up for the money. It is nice and quiet going down the road. If you get on it you can hear it but nothing like the AFE. I have had AFE's on my previous trucks and loved them, but I travel so much now that I wanted something that would be a little less noticable.

AFE and S&B both make excellent intake kits. Lately, we have been going with the new S&B setup. it is easy to install and has a plug that you can leave in to keep it fully enclosed or remove it for maximum flow. If the customer wants the intake to be as loud as possible, we also leave the clear plastic cover off. Below are links to the kits on our site and a few pics of the intake on a truck.

I bought my AFE (from PTP) and I couldnt be happier! It is definitely loud for a twin turbo truck...... nothing compared to a 6.0 though. My favorite is just barely getting on the gas and then letting off. You can really hear the turbos spool down then, and it doesnt take much throttle at all. It sounds like a jet air plane when you turn the truck off. I have had a ton of people comment on it lol. I have the PG7 by the way

which one would you guys choose if you were to consider:

power
no oil
cleanability
compatibility with aftermarket pipes for intake/cac etc

Like stated above, I chose the AFE PG7 because it's all important. I wanted the best filtration possible while still achieving good power gains. They are very "cleanable" as well. You can't go wrong with S&B or AFE

Snow

If your truck sees a lot of snow, you should consider the AFEe due to its open design. There have been reports of snow caking the stock and S&B filter to the point of chocking the engine due to reduced air flow. This is caused by the genius' at Ford Engineering for not designing a better air snorkel which sucks snow into the airbox until it is packed. Since the AFe CAI has a gap between the snorkel and filter, I don't see this occurring.

Other than that, I think S&B and AFe are both very good.
