Custom exhaust question
It is about that time for me to start looking for an exhaust for my truck. I know what I want but who makes it.
I want a turbo back strait piped exhaust but under the cab I want it to split and dump in front of the rear tires. If no one makes this then I want it to just dump in front of the passenger rear tires. |

if you get one of the mbrp kits im sure you can switch a few pieces around to get what you want

you're going to have some very dirty fenders and rear wheels

I loved it on my old truck. I get the truck detailed about every week in the summer so it will get cleaned a lot. I just want something different.

I know this is with a stock tip but is this the look your going for? I put this together for a buddy of mine with an early 99 350. I cut his muffler section out and welded in my tip after I put my Flo-Pro duals on.

No one makes the setup you are looking for as it will get your passenger side wheel(s) dirty pretty quickly and possibly your bed as well. However, if you are dead set on going this route you can modify a 5" straight piped kit pretty easily. Instead of running the rear tail section over the axle, you can just cut it and angle it out the side. For best results you will probably want someone to weld it for you though, or make an extra hanger to support the weight.

Sounds good. With a 5" turbo back I shouldn't have that jet engine sound right?

There are no 5" turbo back kits. You can get a 5" Flo-Pro kit with their 4" downpipe as a turbo back kit. I wouldn't do Diamond Eye's turbo back kit. I had rubbing issues with the downpipe and I've read numerous posts on numerous forums about rubbing issues with Diamond Eye's downpipe. The best downpipe out there is Powerstroker67's downpipe. I've ran everything but MBRP's downpipe on my truck and the Powerstroker67 downpipe is the only one that hasn't rubbed. It's great quality, made in America, and you can buy it ceramic coated for heat reduction.
As for the hair dryer sound, it will still be there. You'll never get rid of it completely with stock turbos. The VGT high pressure turbo is the culprit. I had a Flow Monster 5" muffler on my exhaust and that's the closest I've gotten to no hair dryer sound. |

Strange, we sell hundreds of the Diamond Eye turbo back kits and havent really had many fitment issues to speak of. If there were all these issues you speak of, DE would get them taken care of quickly.
The "best" down pipe is a matter of opinion. Performance will be the exact same from one to the next as they are all 4" mandrel bent, two piece. MBRP also makes a very nice setup. Also, Diamond Eye offers two different turbo back configurations. There is turbo back with flanges and just regular turbo back. We only sell the the turbo back kits with flanges so the factory 2 bolt ball/socket flange is retained. |
