6.4 performance & CA Smog ?
So I am looking to possibly get a 6.4 soon and been around diesels for sometime. I am curious, what will a good tuner and DF Delete do for the 6.4? What can I do to pass smog...just remove the DF and install every 2 years or is there a kit that will look stock but pass smog....won't they know...... just wanting to know what performance to expect and what is eveyone in CA doing to beat the smog

Theres no delete kit that will pass. Any delete kit you put in place will fail the visual. Anything that disables the DPF/EGR fill fail the OBD test. And both the above will cause you to fail the snap test.
That said, there are three groups. Those that say screw it and delete it anyway reverting back to stock for emissions and dealer visits. Those that go stealth and buy a second DPF/CAT, hollow it out and run that except for emissions and dealer visits. And those that run a DPF on tuner which is CARB compliant so they don't have to mess with it. As to what you can do. If your looking to just disable the DPF and EGR's and gain the mileage, look at the DPF-R+. If your looking for more power as well, look at the H&S, Spartan or custom tunes on an SCT. Cost will be anywhere from $600-$2k for tuner and parts. Sent from my EVO using AutoGuide app. Last edited by smotrs; 03-17-2012 at 09:25 AM. |

Check your area. Not all county's, or zip codes for that matter require a bi annual check. Example, Sonoma county. Only at resale of the vehicle.
